Do you want to be free?
If you want to be free, stop taking yourself so seriously.
One of the most powerful permissions I have granted myself is the permission to laugh at myself.
I laugh not to mock myself, but to set myself free.
▶ Laughing at myself frees me from the self-imposed pressure of having to be perfect, successful, rich, famous, brave, intelligent, wise, and composed.
▶ Not taking myself so seriously frees me from the unnecessary drama that comes with the illusion of believing I am extremely important.
Finally, I realized that taking myself so seriously was a defense mechanism to shield myself from accepting that I am simple, ordinary, mundane, and commonplace.
👉 When I embraced my undeniable normalcy, I set myself free.
✅ Now I seek to laugh because gravitating towards humor lowers my defenses, allowing me to learn much more because there is no resistance.
✅ Now, instead of taking things personally, I’m entertained by how ridiculous, absurd, and surreal everything can appear, including myself.
✅ Now, when everything is going amazingly well, I don't dramatize it, and when everything is going terribly, I don't either.
I like to remind myself that at my highest or lowest point, I am still the same me, without the slightest clue about what is really going on 🤣.
Today, my life weighs less thanks to healing the illusion and letting go of the defense mechanism.
